This one aims to teach you everything you need to know about returning your bike to its former glory. We’ll look at indexing gears and replacing cables, both inner and outer.
Learn how to index gears so they all align and work properly. When you change gear you want to move smoothly through the gears on the front and rear derailleur without any skipping, jumping or crunching.
Indexing your gears is a fine tuning that gives your bike it's best chance at doing this, and it's surprisingly simple when you know how.
When your gear cables get frayed, stretched, sticky and generally curmudgeonly it's time to replace them with a lithe and shiny pair. You'll learn how to do this, and find, as with brake cables, it's a very satisfying procedure..
